What are affirmations you ask? They have grown in popularity in recent years however have been around much longer than that.
Affirmations are used to affirm an outcome or action and in Latin steam from the term 'affirmatio' which means to strengthen or make steady.
Affirmations are short positive statements that empower you and help you to overcome negative thoughts and self sabotage instead focusing on positivity and your own ability to be successful at whatever you put your mind to.
They often start with I can, I will or I believe and as mentioned above are positive they are used to attract outcomes or actions that you do want not what you don't. Before you start using affirmations think about what you really want, as a person how do you want to feel, what do you want to attract. When you use affirmations you need to believe and feel that feeling as you are repeating your affirmation, you need to almost feel as though you are grateful to have attracted that feeling or state of being into your life.
Affirmations are most powerful when repeated multiple times, either daily picking a new focus each day or for a longer time if the outcome you seek may take longer to achieve. It is about repetition as much as it is belief. I personally use the power of mediation and visualisation with affirmations, closing my eyes and imagining that outcome, feeling, state of being.
I think the biggest misconception with affirmations is if you repeat an affirmation every day that this outcome will just magically appear in your life. As much as affirmations are powerful my friends, this is not how they work.
You need to not only believe that the outcome is possible and put in meaningful action to make it happen. It may be that your limiting mindset is holding you back so you need to work on that as well as working with affirmations, there are many pieces to the puzzle of being free of stress and overwhelm and living your best life and using affirmations is a great and powerful tool to have in your toolbox.
